A Voice for Community Health and Harmony

As part of a broader network promoting wellbeing and harmony, members can share their ideas and proposals for improving community health. The Association provides a platform for such ideas to be heard, discussed, and acted upon.

Professional Recognition and Organisational Support

Affiliation with the Association offers credibility and a recognised professional identity. Whether engaging in academic, cultural, or charitable projects locally or internationally, members represent not just themselves but a collective body committed to the integrity and advancement of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Types of membership

The Association offers three categories of membership: Full Membership, Student Membership, and Associate (Community) Membership. Each category provides different benefits according to the member’s qualifications and level of professional involvement.

Associate (Community)

Associate Members include individuals who are interested in Traditional Chinese Medicine or professionals from other health disciplines who wish to support the development of TCM within the community.

While Associate Members do not have access to clinical or insurance-related privileges, they are welcome to take part in association events, educational workshops, and community activities that promote the understanding and practice of TCM.

They may also participate in public outreach, health awareness, and cultural exchange programs endorsed by the Association, helping to foster greater appreciation of TCM philosophies and methods in society.

Student

Student Members are currently undertaking studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine and have not yet graduated. While they are not eligible to claim or provide treatments covered by private health insurance, they can actively participate in the Association’s training programs, seminars, and educational activities.

Student Members are encouraged to engage with the Association to gain professional insight, networking opportunities, and guidance as they prepare for clinical practice.

Full

Full Members enjoy all of the benefits listed previously.

As registered practitioners with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency), they are recognised professionals qualified to practise acupuncture, herbal medicine, or other TCM modalities according to their specific registration.

Full Members are also eligible to provide treatments that can be rebated through private health insurance, depending on their recognised qualifications. For further details regarding insurance eligibility and registration, please refer to the official AHPRA website.
